Since manufacturing Cold-Rolled Steel Sheet for the first time
in Korea in 1967, Dongbu Steel has produced over 4 million
tons of various steel products annually, including Hot Rolled
Steel Sheet, Cold Rolled Steel Sheet, Galvanized Steel Sheet,
EGI, Pre-coated Metal, Tin Plate, medium and large-sized
Pipe, light weight welded H-Beam, PEB, Cold Heading
Quality Wire, and Cold Drawn Bar, with its production bases
in Asan Bay Works, Incheon Works and Pohang Works.
Dongbu Steel has attained global competitiveness in Cold-
Rolled Steel Sheet products since the Asan Bay Cold Rolling
Mill first automated the entire manufacturing process in
1999, from raw material input to product output, for the first
time in the steel industry.
The construction of the world¡¯s largest electric arc furnace
mill which began in 2007 and started operations on July 1,
2009, enabled the company to expand its product line to
include hot-rolled steel sheets. Dongbu Steel¡¯s Hot Rolling
Mill is touted to be the steel mill of the future for its
construction cost-effectiveness compared to integrated mills,
with CO2 emissions reduction, energy savings, and high
operational efficiency as well as high productivity.
Dongbu Steel, upon completion of the electric arc furnace
mill, has positioned itself as an integrated steel-maker that
produces both Hot and Cold-Rolled Steel Sheet from molten
iron and is taking a big leap forward in achieving its goal as
the world¡¯s most competitive steel-maker.
